Its Been a Long Long Time is a lovely piece of music that hit at the end of World War II. The music score was composed by an American writer, “Jule Styne”, and the Lyrics by well recognized American lyricist “Sammy Cahn.”
The most popular single, by musician Harry James and His Orchestra with soprano Kitty Kallen, appeared on Billboard charts Best-Selling Popular Retail Singles chart in October 1945 and reached number one on November 24, 1945 — the last of Harry James’s nine US number ones. Willie Smith, an alto saxophonist, has a solo on the album.

On July 12, 1945, renowned vocalist Bing Crosby recorded a smash rendition with Les Paul and His Trio. It premiered the same week as James’ album, replacing it at number one on the December 8, 1945, list.
The Harry James track, which recovered the top spot (for one final week) in the chart dated December 22, supplanted Sammy Kaye’s “Chickery Chick” at number one.
The singles of James and Crosby stayed on the charts for 17 and 16 weeks, correspondingly. Billboard’s Songs Most-Played on the Air and most JukeBox Records charts had both versions at number one.
